A little illumination goes a long way towards spicing up
your garden or walkway. These lights collect sunlight during daylight hours
through small solar cells embedded on top of the lights. The cells power an
internal battery, and when the voltage drops off (ie, the sunlight is no longer
shining), the solar garden lights kick on automatically.
Not only are these lights incredibly energy efficient, they
are also a lot easier to install than regular lights. Traditional garden lights
need a hard wired source of power. That means finding an electrical source
(possibly by hiring an electrician), and running a line to it underground.
After lots of shoveling and burying, you’ve got to wire it up to the light. If
you have multiple lights, you have to wire each one to the next so they all
have power.
Of course, there are other drawbacks to traditional lights
as well. They draw power, which increases your utility bills. And if there’s
ever a problem with the power line, they are much more complicated to diagnose.
Instead, you can use high efficiency solar garden lights.
All that’s required for installation is to stick them in the ground and make
sure the power switch, if applicable, is turned on. That’s it! No wiring, no
digging, and if you decide you want to move them to a different place, just
pick them up and reposition. Regular lights don’t give you any flexibility if
you decide to rearrange. Also, if you move houses, just take the lights with
you!
